they will be cold. It is very hard for a 3 year old to think beyond
the fact that they are warm at that moment– and therefore don’t
need a coat!
As children get a little older
we can begin to negotiate as their own use of language increases
and their understanding of what we mean and what is expected of
them also grows. Sometimes it is helpful to think of the child’s
age in months rather than years – a 2 year old has only been learning
about being a human being for 24 months. Even a six year old has
only been around for 72 months – it does rather put it into perspective!!
